Poetry of the Week: The Coming of Midsummer

Midsummer in the Midst

By William Blake

As the wind blows swiftly, soon it will be Midsummer.

The trees becoming greener and flowers blooming in abundance with fresh scents.

The organisms from beneath the sea to the sand to the soil begin to evolve rapidly.

Blackberries will begin to ripen for berry picking season later in the summer.

Sunflower, weary of time,

Who countest the steps of the sun,

Seeking after that sweet golden clime

Where the traveller's journey is done:

Where the youth pined away with desire,

Arise thy sun-flower where thy wishes to aspire.
